The Martin OMC-16E Burst features ovangkol top, back and sides, an unusual choice that yields some interesting sonic dividends. To our ears, this guitar has a smooth, mellow sound with a clear, balanced bass to treble response and rich overtones. The overall sound is darker than you might find on a spruce top OM with a slightly compressed quality that responds well to strumming or more energetic finger picking. The top has a gloss finish with a subtle sunburst and the back and sides have a satin finish. The neck features Martin’s high-performance neck taper for easy playability; a 1/3/4-inch nut width, a hand-rubbed neck finish; and an ebony fingerboard and bridge. The cutaway allows for easy access up the neck. It has Fishman Matrix VT Enhance electronics, which combine an Acoustic Matrix undersaddle pickup with a bridge-plate–mounted body sensor and controls for volume, tone, and blend in the soundhole. This guitar includes a hardshell case.
