This is Martin's version of the classic Gibson slope-shoulder Dreadnought, in an all-mahogany format (the "SS" stands for "slope shoulder"). The finish color has a somewhat distressed appearance from the way the stain has been rubbed through in some parts but there is no artificial wear to the wood itself. It really does sound a bit different than the regular square-shouldered D version with the same features, but how do you describe it? We're going to suggest you come in and do your own sound test. We'll try to post a comparison video at some point in the near future.
