George Lowden made his first guitar for Pierre Bensusan back in 1978, and Pierre still plays that battered and bruised but much loved instrument to this day. But over time, Pierre’s style has matured and he began the search for a new guitar that could deliver the sounds he was hearing in his imagination. After a lot of experimentation, the luthier and the musician settled on Honduras rosewood and Adirondack spruce, a combination that produced a guitar with a perfect balance of brilliance and warmth. Pierre also asked to include a soundbox bevel, a feature that make the guitar more comfortable to play. “I knew apart from the structural implications the most important thing would be to design and voice the new soundboard to make sure the bevel did not compromise tone in any way,” Lowden explained. The Lowden Pierre Bensusan Signature has more than exceeded expectations. “I'm delighted with how the guitar has turned out,” Lowden says. “and of course it will only get better with age - and an awful lot of playing - and we can be sure Pierre will do just that!”
