Although it's not shown on the Collings website, or shown in their price list, this is a standard model for Gryphon. It looks much the same as their popular OM2H model but has dark and light lines of purfling around the perimeter of the top instead of herringbone. But the more important differences are the neck, as this version is 1 11/16 inches wide at the nut (instead of 1 3/4") and string scale is 24 7/8 inches instead of 25.5". This last feature is a big deal for many players, as it reduces the string tension and when combined with the slightly more narrow neck the result is a much happier left hand. And since Collings tweaks the bracing and top thickness just a bit because of the lower string tension, it's your left hand, not your ears, that will detect the difference. If you love the sound and playability but need that slightly wider neck just ask Matt and we'll order you one.
