For starters this is a Guild Starfire III made in Westerly, Rhode Island, and shouldn't be confused with the current Guild Starfire III models made in Asia (while those imports are an excellent value they are very different in terms of woods and construction). This example has a bit of light fret wear and has been played, but about the only signs of use are a few light scuffs on the pickguard and very light finish wear (from shirt buttons?) on the back. Neck is straight, string action is low, and thanks to true hollow-body construction with no center block, the weight is a comfy under 7 1/4 lbs. The case is a later hardshell that comes with the "Newark St." import versions, but it's an excellent fit since the Starfire body shape and neck profile has remained the same. The serial number on this Westerly-era Starfire III falls just outside the 1999 list, so we're assuming it was probably completed in 2000, before the Westerly factory was closed in 2001.
