Now, I don't know exactly how it happened, but this old mandolin has survived nearly 100 years without any damage and with few signs of aging. But, I'm not going to complain! A modest old instrument to be sure, this S.S.Stewart has back and sides of Brazilian rosewood, spruce top, and ebony fingerboard and bridge. The large inlaid celluloid pickguard is still in fine shape, as are the original tuners, with their original engraved cover. Please give a call to the shop at 650-493-2131 (10:30AM to 2:00PM Pacific TIme is best) and talk to Frank if you'd like more detailed description. Otherwise, the photos tell the story pretty well. The tailpiece cover is a newer, and the bridge is a likely replacement. About the case - well, it's just pain funky, but it does serve as a pretty good home for now. . .
