This Dobro Model 66-S was made sometime around 1965 in Gardena, Calaifornia, a period when Rudy and Ed Dopyera had revived the Dobro name. This particular guitar is in good structural condition and while the finish is crazed, it too is in overall good shape. There are lots of scratches to the finish on the sides, probably from the rivets in a chipboard case, but the design on the top and back is in good shape. The square neck has lots of wear to the edges as shown. The coverplate is chrome-plated and the screens and tailpiece are nickel-plated, a combo that is most likely original as Dobros from this period were built using a combination of new and vintage parts.
