A very clean, and quite early, Orpheum 17 fret tenor ( this was made before resonators had really caught on). Very playable with good string action, and thanks to contemporary geared "planet" pegs with a 4 to 1 ratio it's also easy to tune! But other than the tuners this has mostly original parts, including a "No-Knot" tailpiece, and thankfully has the original-style calfskin head. You'd be amazed at the difference a skin head makes in the tone of a tenor banjo, and this Orpheum has a pleasingly plunky tone without the metallic clatter that often gives tenor banjos a bad rap. And the under-22" string scale makes it remarkably easy to play. Nice original hardshell case, and comes with an Elton spun metal cover that can serve as a resonator of sorts when installed on the back of the head.
