If another contemporary L-5 knock-off is what you're after, this OM-sized archtop probably isn't your cup of tea. But if finely crafted guitars that wander artfully off the usual well-worn production guitar pathways are of interest, this "Swift" model by Portland luthier Tim Frick is worth a look. Tim's workmanship is top-notch, and displays a clean and consistently harmonious design. Because of its smaller size, the Swift doesn’t have the acoustic volume to drive a big band but its well-balanced tone is well suited to solo or small combo work. The Swift is fitted with a Lollar Johnny Smith-style humbucker, a pristine sounding pickup that is perfectly matched to the timbre of this instrument. Includes a hardshell case.
