This is Ome's "less is more" 12" open back, but with subtle touches that invite closer attention than you'd give most similar banjos. Nice faux tortoiseshell binding on both the inner and outer back edges of the rim, figured maple on the shell, and a comfy and attractive wood armrest. There are lots of new banjo companies now, we couldn't be happier to see the renewed popularity of the open-back style, but it's good to remember that Chuck Ogsbury, Ome's founder, was the first independent banjo builder who really went all-in, back in 1960. Chuck paved the way for the newer makers and he's still at it. Go Chuck!
