The Collings Parlor models, especially the rosewood versions, offer a delightfully rich sound from a very small package. About the size of an old Martin Size 2, and with a string scale just over 24 1/2 inches, this is a fine example of what can happen when contemporary guitarmaking meets 19th Century guitar aesthetics. There are a few small nicks and dings from handling as this has been played, but the thin lacquer has settled in nicely so that the whole guitar has a lived-in-but-gently feel that's in keeping with the design.

One of the downsides with most parlor model guitars is that case manufacturers won't bother making a whole new super-small case shell, they just take a standard guitar case and add oodles of extra padding. This means when you're carrying your delightfully small, light parlor guitar, you're stuck lugging a big heavy case. But not Collings, as when they first offered their Parlor model it came in a specially made Collings Traditional Series case, which is small and light but amazingly strong (and beautifully constructed and fitted). Alas, the cost of building those cases finally caught up with the numbers-crunchers at Collings and that special case is no longer standard with new Parlor models, but the case is still available for a mere $995! But the Traditional Series Parlor case was standard when this example was sold two years ago, and is included now as well.
