Don't be fooled by the plain neck inlays, this is full-bore Mastertone-style bluegrass banjo, with thick 3-ply maple shell topped by a heavy 20-hole flathead bronze tone ring. Heavy cast bronze resonator flange and tension hoop, and all these bronze parts have lovely nickel plating that's equal or better than any other brand in the banjo business today. High glass lacquer finish. There's no fret wear, as despite being a 2014 banjo it just never really got used as the previous owner was, and still is, a guitar picker. Although not shown in these photos the original Deering branded hardshell case is in equally clean condition.
This Deering Deluxe is probably one of the best banjo buys currently at Gryphon. A new version has a list price well over $3,000. If you want real bluegrass banjo tone and don't need the pearly flash on the neck this Deluxe can't be beat.
