Collings upgraded the classic '59/'60 Gibson Les Paul Special, but while it's now a contemporary electric guitar key elements remain: full access to all 22 frets and shoulder-easing light weight, in this example under 7 1/2 lbs. Typical Collings fit and finish with a clear cherry-red stain and all-lacquer finish that challenges you to view it using strong magnification. Very light fret wear, just a few surface scuffs (mostly to the pickguard), with one little finish dent along the lower edge. The back has a few light marks to the lacquer from shirt buttons, but the whole guitar looks remarkably new at closer than arm's length and there's no finish wear or dings at all to the back of the neck and thanks to several years of aging that beautiful red now has a friendly patina. Original case is in similar condition.
