Looks like a '60s Fender acoustic, but of course it isn't. And Fender has brought in import knock-offs of those '60s acoustic, but this isn't one of those, either. Instead it's a made-in-USA Fender Custom Shop guitar from the brief period when Fender was making acoustics in the former Ovation factory in New Hartford, Connecticut. Fender had established a top-notch team of builders and tooling in New Hartford but despite good reviews of the acoustic guitars built there abandoned the whole project about a year later. Needless to say, not many of these Fender Custom Shop acoustics were produced. Although this looks like one of the original Fender acoustic models it sounds far better, with a nice finish and a far superior neck joint that results in reasonable weight. Fishman active pickup with tone and volume controls just inside the lip of the soundhole. The real appeal of this guitar is the neck, which really does feel and play like a Fender electric guitar neck.
