Charles Russell, who passed away a few years ago, was a luthier based in Minnesota who earned a reputation for making excellent banjos. This particular instrument was made in 2008 and it's a beauty. Its inlay was inspired by the classic Hearts and Flower pattern which has been e;legantly enhanced by some subtle engraving. The gold plating has a satin finish and shows a little wear here and there. The maple on the neck and resonator are almost outlandishly figured. We’re not sure who made the tone ring but it is a high quality Mastertone-style cast from bell bronze. The shell is three-ply maple. Overall, this banjos is in excellent structural and fine cosmetic condition. The frets do show a little wear, but they have lots of life left in them. Includes a hardshell case.
