When Gibson reintroduced the Les Paul Custom in 1968, they opted to build it with a maple top and a mahogany back, unlike its 1950s predecessors which had a solid mahogany body. Gibson also made the two pickup configuration as the default rather than the three pickup style. This 2007 Custom Shop ‘68 Les Paul recreates that classic guitar. This edition sports the attractive triburst sunburst variation. It’s in excellent cosmetic and structural condition. The frets are in good shape and have lots of life left in them. The gold hardware shows a bit of water particularly on the bridge pickup where it has worn through on the edge. There are a few very minor dents on the back that don’t break the finish and don’t show up in photographs. Include the original black hardshell case but the COA is missing.
