As our photos show, this Thunderchief bass shows some wear. But it's not damage, it's wear from normal use and once you play you'll see why it got played as much as it did. These basses probably did more to kill the market for expensive acoustic guitar basses than any other bass, simply because they sounded so good. When it comes to a regular guitar the offset soundhole may seem odd, but it allowed these basses to make full use of the big soundboard, and a very believable acoustic bass tone is the result. For what this one costs you should have a bass, whether for the occasional recording or for an acoustic jam it's worth it.
