Santa Cruz has made a number of guitars with sycamore back and sides but they've only done a handful with all the wood you see on the exterior, with the exception of the fingerboard and bridge, being sycamore. The result is visually stunning, and a true Santa Cruz Guitar Co. exclusive as far as we know and we can't recall another with sycamore top and sycamore neck, and even sycamore binding! . Plantanus Racemosa is a species of sycamore native to the Santa Cruz mountains, and probably anyone who has hiked in the area has taken advantage of the deep shade canopy these huge trees often provide. It's a hard wood, and the tone is similar to that of mahogany.
Everything on this SCGC is original except for the strap button in the neck heel and the LR Baggs Element pickup. Fret wear is slight, there are a few scuffs to the lacquer on the top (about where a pickguard would be), one shirt-button indentation to the lacquer on the back, plus a few marks on either side of the headstock, just above the nut, from where the guitar hung in a hanger or a hanger-stand. (These are mentioned for the sake of accuracy, you have to look hard to find them). TKL case shown was the standard case for SCGC when this H13 was new.
The H13 is perhaps our favorite H model, the 13-frets-clear neck gives the player a wider range than a 12-fret but puts the bridge in a more optimal position on the soundboard (compared to a 14-fret H).
