A very clean example of a Gibson model we just don't see that often. Along with almost no wear to the frets, no finish wear, and some nice figure to the maple this ES-165 has another major bonus for the player: the original Gibson BJB mini-humbucker pickup and pickguard-mounted volume control has been replaced with a floating Bartolini Jazz pickup, mounted to a custom ebony pickguard with white-black-white binding that matches the binding on the top of the guitar. But wait...there's more! instead of a volume knob sticking up above the pickguard surface, in the way of your right hand, the Bartolini is controlled by a neat little fingerwheel volume control mounted just under the lip of the pickguard (just above the f hole). The result is an ES-165 with a "ES-175/Johnny Smith" hybrid vibe that delivers great jazz guitar tone, and with a decent acoustic sound as well so it doubles as a practice guitar you don't have to plug in. Comes with the original Gibson case, also in excellent shape.
