Deering, who now owns the Vega trademark for banjos, made some significant upgrades to their version of the venerable Vega Pete Seeger long-neck 5-string of the late '50s and '60s. Compared to the original PS-5, this contemporary version has a nicely figured maple neck and an impressive 3-ply hard-rock maple shell. The important elements of the original PS-5 have been preserved, such as the Tu-Ba-Phone tonering and the bracket band that allows the shoes to be mounted without drilling holes in the shell. The twin coordinating rods actually work, allowing quick and easy neck angle/string height adjustment. Original case in near-perfect condition. "Locally owned and played, but not much."
