We try not to rave about stuff and while this will be an exception, it's all true. This is the cleanest, most original and best-sounding L-50 we can remember. It's only remotely related to Gibson's later L-50 models, which had laminated arched backs, as the back of this example is not only carved, the maple has lots of figure as well. Original tuners, pickguard, bridge, and tailpiece, with all original finish. Frets are also original and show some wear. The rosewood fingerboard shows wear as well, probably from fingernails. Great neck angle, neck is quite straight. The much later hardshell case is a brute, with an arched lid and about the heaviest latches you'll find on a guitar case.

This early L-50 may not have the inlays and binding of higher models from the 1930s like the L-7 or L-12, but it's got that 16-inch archtop sound and then some. Come in and give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
