Here's a superb example of a model that represents a high-point in American mandolin history and manufacturing. This was Lyon & Healy's top mandolin model for almost two decades, and although some have Washburn labels they were all made by the same crew in Chicago. However due to their high price these Style A models never sold in huge numbers, and not many have survived in the clean, all-original condition of this one as from headstock to tailpiece it appears that only the strings have ever been changed. Note the cool extending leg rest, btw. The rectangular case is exquisitely fitted, only the second one like it we've seen (most came in shaped cases that were nice and solid, but not of this quality). Great tone and very playable, an exceptional mandolin in every way.
