Here's a lovely "dark-'burst" A-4 that sounds remarkably better than most of its late-'teens A model compatriots, probably because this example has a maple back instead of birch (Gibson catalogs listed their A models as being maple, but most were actually birch until the truss-rod, "snake head" era). Original tuners, pickguard and tailpiece with original cover. Bridge is an excellent copy of the original. Neck is straight, neck angle good, our photos show the wear to the neck's finish from players' hands. Original varnish finish is complete and solid with nicks, a few dings, and wear as shown but no signs of overspray or touch-up. And best of all, NO CRACKS anywhere! One of the best sounding and most solid Gibson A models we've had that's ready for its 100th birthday in a couple of years.
