Imagine the fashion statement you could make with this century-old mandolin, especially if wearing black! Gibson didn't offer this white top option for more than a couple of years, making this one of the hardest A models to find in good condition. The thin white finish on this example shows a pattern of crazing lines, see photo 8, but with the original grained ivoroid pickguard the result is a nice patina. Original tuners, pickguard, and tailpiece with cover, and original frets without much wear. There's been some finish touchup to the lower portion of the sides, on either side of the tailpiece, see photos 3 and 5 and you can see where this change to the finish begins and ends. A great sounding and playing Gibson A model with classy looks and its original red-lined hardshell case.
