The best sounding thousand-dollar mandolin we have right now, and by a considerable margin. There's only a little light fret wear, but no real scratches and certainly no cracks (but note the chip to the headstock, photo 17). The Weber crew was on to something with these Hyalites, if you eliminate the hassles of binding and glossy rubbed-out finishes you can build a great-sounding and playing mandolin that doesn't cost a bundle. And now, a used example in fine condition is even more of a bargain. Original hardshell case is equally clean.
